Road & Bridge Construction is a major of Transport Construction Engineering and involves the design, inspection and management of bridges and roads.

Students receive in-depth education focused on the design and construction of roads and bridges. In addition to basic subjects, they study the structure of bridges, roads and tunnels in both urban and rural environments and methods of designing, building, managing and repairing. The CDIO (Conceive - Design - Implement - Operate) teaching methodology is used to developing professional, team working, communication and presentation skills.

Essential qualities for a successful career

Transport infrastructure such as bridges, roads, and tunnels must meet the everyday needs for travel, the transportation of goods and be of high-quality, durable and aesthetics. The following abilities are required to become a successful traffic engineer:

- Students majoring in Transport Construction Engineering in particular and in other majors related to engineering in general must be aware of the restrictions of nature because poor construction, even minor, can result in serious consequences.

- Civil engineers must be passionate, creative and nomadic, as they usually travel a lot, must live away from family and relatives for a long time and adapt to disadvantaged working conditions. Civil Engineering is also one of the most stressful jobs. A construction project may last for several years and, without passion, you will give up soon. Creativity is vital in designing spectacular structures like the Dragon Bridge in Danang and a successful civil engineer is one whose works are greatly welcomed and admired by the local community.

- Logical thinking enables you to approach and implement projects, and comply with technical and construction principles more easily.

- Cooperative spirit, team working skills and the ability to work in high-pressure situations is vital. Any traffic structure is usually a big and complex project, requiring the combined efforts of many individuals and many different departments. In addition to being able to work and research on their own, engineers must have strong team working skills.    

In 2020 season, DTU continues to award preferential scholarships students of Road & Bridge Construction

- 700 scholarships, worth from 500 thousand to 2 million VND for high-school transcript applicants, with 22 points or higher;

- 450 DTU scholarships, worth from 1 to 5 million VND for applicants with a total High School Graduation Exam three-subject score from 5 to 10 points higher than the admissions minimum;

- A 15% reduction in first-year tuition fees for 50 applicants in Road & Bridge Construction.
