On January 9, DTU celebrated the 71st Vietnamese Students’ Day and awarded “Student of Five Merit” titles and scholarships to students participating in Youth Union activities. Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, Vice-Chairman of the Danang Student Association, Vice-Secretary of the Danang Youth Union and Head of the Board of the Danang Schools Youth Union; Hero of Labor, Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman and students attended.
Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co said: “During the past 71 years, the Vietnamese Student Association has contributed significantly to Vietnam’s glorious victory. Now, in peacetime, you should thoroughly understand your responsibilities and roles to achieve success. You must always try to study hard and, at the same time, participate enthusiastically in Youth Union and Student Association activities. The creativity, innovation and startup spirit of the younger generation will contribute heavily to the development of our country.”
DTU receives an Emulation Flag for its Union and Student Movement work in 2019-2020
On behalf of the Central Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thao presented a Certificate of Merit to the DTU Youth Union and Student Association for their achievements in 2019-2020, who then awarded an Emulation Banner to DTU. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee also awarded the DTU Youth Union for fighting Covid-19 and an Emulation Flag for the outstanding work of the Union work and Student Movement.
The Danang Student Association and the DTU Youth Union and Student Association also awarded nine DTU students with city-level “Student of Five Merits” titles and twenty with university-level titles.

DTU then presented Certificates of Merit and scholarships to students who won national and international prizes:
- Boeing awarded 8 scholarships, worth 74 million vnd, to CMU students
- Pennsylvania State University awarded 10 scholarships, worth 70 million vnd, to PSU students
- CalPoly State University awarded 1 scholarship, worth 7 million vnd, to a CSU student
- 22 scholarships, worth 50 million vnd, were given to CMU, PSU and CSU students
- 14 groups and 36 students who won national and international prizes in 2020 were awarded scholarships worth 80 million vnd
- The best 141 students of 2019-2020 were presented awards worth 141 million vnd

Certificates of Merit were also presented to individuals with outstanding work in fighting Covid-19 and to faculties, institutes and individuals with accomplishments in Union work, the Student Movement and other activities. Awards were given to the winners of the 2019-2020 “20,000 Step Challenge” and “Green Living” contests and scholarships and Tet bus tickets to disadvantaged students.
The continuing recognition and support of the Danang Student Association and the university will motivate students to study harder and participate more wholeheartedly in various volunteer activities.
