A Passion for English and Harry Potter

At Tran Cao Van high school, Anh Nga was always a shining example of a pleasant and skilled pupil, a title she earned three years in a row. Anh Nga’s secret of success is quite simple: “I never set myself goals that are too high or put pressure on myself. Instead, I try to remain as comfortable as possible during my studies. Listening closely to my lecturers, taking extensive notes and learning thoroughly from my textbooks has built a solid foundation for my future studies.”

Anh Nga loves English, which is why she chose to pursue block D in senior high school. For many young people, learning a foreign language, especially English, is always difficult, requiring an intensive knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and other vital skills and, to gain high grades is even tougher.

Anh Nga impressed many of her high school colleagues and added: “I greatly enjoy learning English and believe that mastering foreign languages will open up many attractive new opportunities in the future. “That’s why I always try to achieve the very best results, by concentrating on grammar first and then vocabulary. I study a little every day, review the vocabulary I learned the day before and add new words, gradually broadening my memorization capability.”

Meanwhile Anh Nga also enjoys listening to quiet music and watching movies. Most of all, she likes the Harry Potter series and his enthralling adventures. “I have come to admire Harry Potter’s virtues, his courage, his inquisitiveness and never giving up in the face of difficulties,” she explained.

With her high grades, Anh Nga had many alternatives, but chose DTU.

I chose DTU because of its strength in international IT programs and its standing in the Central Vietnam-Central Highlands region and nationally. DTU’s facilities, curricula and teaching methods guarantee us a unique and comprehensive university education. I thoroughly researched DTU’s IT programs and decided for the advanced CMU-standard Network Security degree course, with a globally recognized Carnegie-Mellon University certificate, will provide many attractive job opportunities. I want to work for a foreign company on graduation and strongly believe that this program will enable me to do that.”

She concluded: “My parents are both farmers and my elder sister is already at university too, so finances have always been a permanent family concern. We were all ecstatic about the scholarship, because I now don’t have to worry about tuition fees, can focus on my studies, not disappoint my parents and realize my future ambitions.”
