DTU Medical Student Receives the 2022 “January Star” Award

Tran Thi Phuong became one of 104 excellent students to be awarded the “January Star” awards, with an outstanding GPA of 3.91 and extra-curricular activities. The event was held by the Vietnamese Students’ Association Central Committee and commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Students and the Vietnam Students Association. 
 
Dedicated to her Union and Association Work
 
On her first days at DTU, Phuong was appointed Secretary of class K25YDK1. Her communication skills have since been enhanced by participating in various activities at the university and consequently she has been nominated Deputy-Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine and an Executive Committee Member of the DTU School of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Tran Thi Phuong has received several central-level, city-level and university-level Certificates of Merit, from the:
 
- DTU Faculty of Medicine Student Association in 2019-2020
- DTU Faculty of Medicine Youth Union for outstanding work in fighting Covid-19
- Danang city, with a “Student with Five Good Merits” title in 2020-2021
- DTU, with a “Student with Five Good Merits” title in 2020-2022
- The university, with a “Youthful Examples of the Advancement of Uncle Ho’s Words” title in 2020-2021
- DTU Provost, for achieving the city-level “Student with Five Good Merits” title in 2020-2021
- DTU Youth Union Executive Board, for outstanding work of the union work and student movement in 2019-2022.
   
Tran Thi Phuong said: “My most unforgettable memory is the 2022 Green Summer campaign in the Nam Dan commune in the Phu Ninh district of Quang Nam province. My colleagues and I went there to teach and develop a program to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection. The children always tried to attend class, despite the rain and hot weather, in increasing numbers. I also helped doctors in free health check-ups and treatment of the local community. I was elated to help the people there.”
 
Tran Thi Phuong received Certificates of Merit from the DTU Provost for her excellent work and she has also published research papers in well-known journals, including:
 
- As National Champion of the 2021 Vietnam Social Innovation Challenge 
- As the author of a poster which won a Eureka Scientific Research Student award in 2021
- For an article entitled “Research on the characteristics of anthropometric and nutritional status of a DTU K26 student”, published in the “Endocrinology & Diabetes” journal     
- For an article, entitled “Research on finger blood pressure indices and Wi-Fi classification for patients with diabetes,” published in the “Science and Technology in Thua Thien Hue Province” journal. 
 
Honored to receive the Central-Level “January Star” award 
 
Tran Thi Phuong was awarded the “January Star” award by the Vietnamese Students’ Association Central Committee and said: “I am honored and proud to receive this award, which recognizes my efforts and motivates me to try even harder. I believe that other students can also gain maturity, self-confidence and broaden their experience by participating in Union activities. I will never forget my beautiful memories at DTU and convey my sincerest thanks to the leaders of the DTU Faculty of Medicine, the DTU Youth Union, and the DTU Student Association for giving me the opportunity to win this special title today.” 
 
Phuong also led her class to win the 2022  “Student Collective of Five Merits” title at the Central Level.
