10th International Conference on Industrial Networks & Intelligent Systems at DTU

Fifty delegates from leading universities and research institutes in Vietnam and various countries and territories worldwide - the UK, France, Norway, Luxembourg, Australia, Finland, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia - convened at DTU to attend an international conference on the latest research in Industrial Networks & Intelligent Systems (INISCOM2024), co-organized by DTU and the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) on February 20, 2024.

This is the 10th installment of the conference, which aims to provide presentations and sharing of numerous new studies in the field. The organizers will invite outstanding reports to be published in prestigious international journals, such as Springer’s Mobile Networks & Applications and DTU’s EAI Endorsed Transactions on Industrial Networks & Intelligent Systems. The latter is ranked Q2 in Scopus.
 
Among the attendees presenting their latest in-depth research in industrial networks & intelligent systems were Dr Duong Quang Trung, Canada Excellence Research Chair, Full Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Research Chair of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), and Chair Professor at Queen’s University Belfast; and Prof. Dr Hyundong Shin and Dr Uman Khalid from the Kyung Hee University Department of Electronic Engineering (South Korea).

“The presence at this conference of delegates from a variety of countries demonstrates its importance in advancing research activities in the field of industrial networks & intelligent systems,” EAI Senior Conference Manager Ms Veronika Kissova explained. “We hope to receive many contributions from scientists to further promote research in this field. I also share the desire to invite the delegates to participate in the next conference to deepen the event with scientific research that is of use for society. I believe this forum provides an opportunity for scientists to exchange ideas and connect for future research."
 
Conference chair Dr Vo Nguyen Son, Deputy Director of the DTU Institute for Fundamental & Applied Sciences, added, “Through ten editions, including eight in Vietnam, DTU is honored to have hosted three: in 2018, 2022, and 2024. The INISCOM conferences have been affirming their credibility and have a positive and significant impact on the scientific community, both locally and internationally. Both the main speakers at the plenary sessions and the speakers at the technical sessions always ensure increased quality and closely follow and broach new emerging research directions. For example, a hot topic treated at this INISCOM 2024 is quantum computing & communications in 6G networks. The organizers very much look forward to continued contributions, support, and sponsorship from scientists, experts, universities, research institutes, and companies to further develop the conference.”
 
The organizers received 41 scientific submissions from over a hundred authors and co-authors in eleven countries. Among these, three reports involved research by DTU scientists or lecturers. These are:
 
? “Multi-user Ambient Backscatter Communication-Based and STAR-RIS-Aided Mobile Edge Computing Network with Uplink NOMA Scheme: A Joint Design” by Assoc.Prof. Dr Ha Dac Binh, MSc Truong Van Truong, Dr Truong Tien Vu (DTU), and Dr Phan Thanh Minh (Vietnam Aviation Academy);
 
? “Energy and Distance Aware Clustering-based Routing for Low-Power IoT-Enabled Wireless Sensor Networks” by MSc Le Viet Thanh (Ton Duc Thang University), Dr Vo Nguyen Son (DTU), Dr Bui Minh Phung (Van Lang University), and MSc Le Phuong Lan (Vietnam Aviation Academy);
 
? “Joint Secrecy and Latency Performance Analysis for UAV-Assisted Uplink NOMA-Based IoT Network with Mobile Edge Computing” by Nguyen Quoc Anh Huy, Dr Nguyen Anh Nhat (FPT University), and Assoc.Prof. Dr Ha Dac Binh (DTU).
 
The speakers at the conference introduced, shared, and discussed the latest research findings on telecommunications systems & networks, information processing & data analysis, information security & safety, computing, quantum computing & communications, etc. in industrial networks & intelligent systems as well as in IoT applications to improve the quality of human life.

At the plenary sessions, the speakers talked on such topics as:
 
? Quantum vision: Revolutionizing communications and high-intensity computing in 6G networks,
? Proposal of a load reduction protocol ensuring energy efficiency in UAV NOMA-based mobile edge computing networks,
? Enhancing energy efficiency and coverage of underground wireless sensor networks using relay nodes in smart agriculture,
? Home-based diabetes prediction system using IoT, federated learning, and edge computing.
 
The talks at the conference reflected the growing interest in industrial networks & intelligent systems, telecommunications systems & networks, information processing & data analysis, and information security & safety.
 
“This conference has brought scientists many new ideas and interdisciplinary research directions in electronic engineering, computer networks, IT, AI, agriculture, and autonomous vehicles,” DTU School of Engineering & Technology Dean Assoc.Prof. Dr Ha Dac Binh confirmed the importance of the conference and of research in the field. “Particularly, the conference focused on in-depth discussion of quantum technology (quantum computers and quantum communications) and the next-generation 6G mobile networks. The conference furthermore opened many doors for research collaboration between universities and strong research groups worldwide, which will provide DTU scientists - and especially those of the School of Engineering & Technology - with more opportunities for research projects.”
