The DTU Start-Up 2024 Finals Recognizes Many Unique and High-Quality Products

On June 15, 2024, the DTU Start-Up 2024 finals took place at DTU 3 Quang Trung campus. Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan, Director of the Danang Innovation and Startup Support Center; Mr. Ly Dinh Quan, Director of the Song Han Incubator; Hero of Labor and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, DTUChairman; along with guests representing various businesses, DTU lecturers and students attended.

Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, DTU Vice-Provost, speaks  

 

Speaking at the event, Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, DTU Vice-Provost, stated: “Entrepreneurship is a vital factor not only in economic development but also in promoting creativity and innovation in both learning and the social environment, especially as we witness the rapid development of technology and face challenges related to sustainable development, economy, environment, and society.

 

Over the past few years, during the implementation of entrepreneurial activities by the DTU faculty and students, we have witnessed many impressive achievements such as: First prize at the Vietnam Talent Awards 2017 with the project  entitled “Using 3D Virtual Reality Technology to Simulate the Human body for Health science Education and Research”; Second prize at the Danang Startup Day 2023 with the project “Firewall Device”; Second prize at the National Startup Day 2024 with the project “The 'Active Prosthesis”. Many startup projects have advanced further, achieving significant success. Therefore, the goal of this year's competition is not only to find excellent ideas but also to create a solid foundation for these projects to develop sustainably in the future.”

 

The DTU Start-Up 2024 highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, providing participants with the resources and support needed to transform their ideas into viable, impactful ventures.

Launched on March 19, the DTU Start-Up 2024 competition attracted the participation of DTU students in Information Technology, Computer Science, Medicine, Economics and Finance, Tourism, and others. By the end of the preliminary round, the organizing committee had received 94 project ideas spanning diverse fields such as healthcare services, application development, online entertainment, green agriculture, and so on.

 

During the competition, the organizing committee collaborated with entrepreneurs, advisory experts, and alumni to conduct training sessions and workshops on supplementary skills for the project teams, including "Business Model Canvas (BMC) Skills; "Building a Marketing and Communication Plan," "Financial Planning for Projects," "Project Presentation Skills," and a one -on-one mentoring program for the Top 10 finalists.

The top 10 teams, who advanced through the intense Audition and Activation rounds, had the opportunity to present and answer questions from the organizers. Many bold business ideas, thorough preparation, detailed presentation slides, and confident, professional delivery by the team members made it challenging for the organizers to select the best project.

 

Based on criteria such as: The necessity of the product or service for market needs; Feasibility of production and business; Financial viability; Uniqueness, creativity, and distinctive value of the product; Available resources for implementation; Communication channels; and Potential results of the project, the organizers selected the truly outstanding projects:

 

- A First prize was awarded to the project “Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Robot Using OMNI Wheels Technology and Swarm Algorithm for Warehouse Operations” by the team including Pham Thi Khanh Van (K26-KEU-QTH), Thi Ly Liem (K28-EDK2), Phan Van Truyen (K25-EDD-PNU), Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Sinh (K27HP-QLC4), and Le Nguyen Phi Truong (K27-EDD-PNU); 

 

 - A Second prize went to the project “SMILE KIT Oral Hygiene Set” by the team including Nguyen Thi My Le (K27YDD1), Dong Thi Hoai Thuong (K27YDD1), Nguyen Thi Mai (K27YDD4), and Tran Thi Tuyet Nhung (K27YDD1);

 

 - A Third prize was awarded to the project “Thuy Lien Khai Hoa Tra” by the team including Tran Pham Huong Ly (K27CTP), Hoang Thi Ngoc Tai (K27CTP), Duong Thi My Phuong (K27CTP), Pham Thi Thanh Tam (K27CTP), and Vo Thi Thuy Tram (K26CTP);

 

- Two Consolation prizes were given to the projects “SWD - Smart Watch with Remote Integrated Electrical Device Control” by the team including Pham Thi Khanh Van (K26-KEU-QTH), Thi Ly Liem (K28-EDK2), Phan Van Truyen (K25-EDD-PNU), Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Sinh (K27HP-QLC4), and “HOME - Finding Rental Rooms” by the team of HoThanh Phong (K27-KEU-QTH), Le Hong Anh (K27-KEU-QTH), and Tran Thi Huong Ly (K27-KEU-QTH).

 

Representing the team winning the First prize, Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Sinh from the DTU International School shared: “During the project implementation, the enthusiastic support from the organizers helped us complete our project. Additionally, the very support from businesses not only provided my team with practical knowledge to increase the feasibility of the project but also taught us how to minimize errors and create a good impression during the presentation. I believe that all these experiences are the most valuable takeaways that the competition has brought to our team.”

 

The DTU Start-Up 2024 competition is a valuable playground for students to showcase their ideas, talents, and entrepreneurial spirit. It is also a place where creative ideas can become a reality, contributing positively to the development of the community.
