International Students Graduate DTU

Nearly 2,000 newly graduated medical doctors, pharmacists, engineers, architects, and bachelors were happy and proud to receive their degrees during the DTU graduation ceremonies that started on June 21, 2024. Among the many students graduating with honors, there were three international students pursuing Talent Programs (HP) at the DTU SouthStar Management Institute (SMi). They are Frances Summer Dale V. Dy from the Philippines, who majored in Marketing Management & Strategy; Xaisomphou Khaikeo from Laos, who majored in Financial Management; and Manyvong Xaysit also from Laos, who majored in Corporate Management.

Graduate Frances Summer Dale V. Dy: Winner of Global Leadership English Challenge

 

The impression Frances Summer Dale V. Dy left her teachers and classmates of Marketing Management & Strategy is of a dynamic, enthusiastic, and energetic person with a special passion for marketing. Throughout her studies at DTU, Summer not only achieved excellent academic results but was also actively involved in extracurricular activities. She set down several impressive accomplishments:

 

-    the Grand Prize - the highest award - at the Global Leadership English Challenge 2021 with the UN Sustainable Development Goals,
-   first prize at the finals of DTU’s 6th English Debating Contest final in 2024.

 

These achievements not only reflect Summer’s academic abilities, but also demonstrate her leadership and creative thinking, and epitomize the spirit of DTU students: “Spirit, Creativity, Reaching for New Heights”.

“My mother used to work at DTU,” Summer explains. “That’s why she understands and highly values the study environment and education quality at DTU, and this is what led me to decide to study here. Today, holding my DTU degree, I’m truly happy and even more confident in my choice. I’ve made close friends at DTU, and studied with wonderful lecturers. After graduation, I hope to work in marketing & communications. I’m currently looking out for job opportunities in both Vietnam and the Philippines. I’m also thinking I could pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration at DTU, because I completely trust the quality of education here and I love the learning environment, the lecturers, and everything else.”

 

Xaisomphou Khaikeo: Aspiring to contribute to the development of Laos

 

When she had to choose a university and a major, Xaisomphou Khaikeo was very uncertain and she spent a lot of time searching for the appropriate learning environment. After she discovered that DTU in Vietnam ranks very high in QS Rankings and in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, and that the university always strives to create an ideal learning environment where students can develop comprehensively and get ready for any future job, Khaikeo decided to study there.

Xaisomphou Khaikeo and her friends were happy on their graduation day

 

Her studies at DTU helped Khaikeo grow and acquire a variety of knowledge. On the happy day she received her bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Khaikeo says she wishes to return home and get a job in the banking sector. According to Khaikeo, a job in this field offers a stable income and aligns with the major she pursued at DTU’s SouthStar Management Institute (SMi). She hopes to apply the knowledge and skills he acquired at DTU in her job and so make her small contribution to the development of Laos.

 

“For me, DTU is my second family, and my lecturers and classmates here are like family members in this cozy home,” Khaikeo confides. “The classes, the group assignments, and learning to cook and then enjoy delicious dishes with lecturers and friends are beautiful memories that I won’t ever forget. The most meaningful time during my studies at DTU was my graduation internship. My friends and I experienced a real work environment at a business, learned many useful things, and applied the knowledge we learned in class to real work.”

 

Manyvong Xaysit: Determined to realize his dream of becoming a successful business manager

 

As the dynamic and creative learning environment at DTU attracts many international students, including from his homeland Laos, Xaysit spent some time to thoroughly research the school before he applied. After his four years of Business Management studies at DTU, Xaysit is very satisfied with his university experience in its highly dynamic and friendly learning environment and its modern and updated study infrastructure.

Exciting and valuable experiences on Manyvong Xaysit’s university journey at DTU

 

With the excitement of obtaining his degree from DTU and his foundation of new and advanced knowledge, Xaysit plans to return to Laos to build his career. He dreams of becoming a business manager at a multinational company or of maybe starting his own business from personal projects. “I believe that the knowledge and skills I acquired at DTU will be a solid foundation for certain successes on the journey ahead,” he explains. “The management skills, leadership abilities, and practical experience from projects and extracurricular activities I participated in as a DTU student will be an invaluable help to me to excel in my job and achieve the plans and goals I have set.

“When I return to Laos, I’ll never forget my study time here, where lecturers and friends always help and support each other through all difficulties of life and studies. I’ll also always remember the wonderful time I had with the Central Vietnam Vietnamese Speaking Contest for Foreign Students in 2023 - where I won third prize. That was a fantastic experience, and it gave me a chance to meet and interact with many international peers in Vietnam and to showcase my understanding and deeper appreciation of Vietnamese culture. All these experiences have become an important part of my colorful student life at DTU.”
