The DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy’s 2022 Student Science Research Conference

On June 7 and 8, the DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy held its Student Science Research conference. Nearly 30 qualified research projects by students majoring in General Practitioner, Doctor of Odonto-Stomatology, and General Nursing were chosen to be presented at the conference.

Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU Vice-provost, said: “Despite some changes to teaching and learning due to the Covid pandemic recently, the DTU College of Medicine and Pharmacy still maintains the same teaching quality and holds science research activities for lecturers and students. The Student Science Research Conference this year includes many new research projects useful to the community. The projects chosen to be presented at the conference will be granted certificates. The most outstanding project will be awarded a prize. Hopefully, many excellent projects at the conference will be selected to be reported at conferences at university level or higher.”

The research projects by the DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy are very diverse
 
Student projects this year were very diverse and had potential to develop products that can be widely used in society. Under the heavy influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, many students implemented surveys concerning the health of the communities in general and students at DTU and other provinces in particular to compare.                
 
Many projects drew the attention of the attendees at the conference, such as:
 
- “The initial development of niosome berberine for oral use and the initial extraction and development of gel from the extract of Artemisia vulgaris L.”
- “Perception of stress and coping behaviors by Nursing students in clinical practice in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic in Danang”
- “Analysis of adverse drug reactions in outpatient prescriptions at the Military Hospital 268 in 2020”
- “Survey on drug use and adherence to treatment for hypertensive outpatients at the hospital 199 in 2022”
- “Survey on osteoporosis in patients with chronic kidney disease”
- “Evaluating the results of retrograde ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy at the Military Hospital 17 in 2020”
 
After the students finished presenting their projects, the judges scored and decided to award:
 
- the first prize to student Nguyen Thi Kieu Tram from the Faculty of Pharmacy with the project “Analysis of adverse drug reactions in outpatient prescriptions at the Military Hospital 268 in 2020” 
 
- second prizes to students Nguyen Trung Duc and Nguyen Quang Thong from the Faculty of Medicine with the projects
“Research on botanical characteristics and chemical composition of Urena Lobata in Son Tra Peninsula, Danang” and “Research on stress states of DTU students in the period of online learning” respectively. 
 
- third prizes to students Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen from the Faculty of Medicine, Tran Thi Xuan Loc from the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Ha Thi Thuy Hang from the Faculty of Nursing with the projects “Readiness for Covid-19 vaccination of the adults in Hanh Duc commune, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province”, “Research on botanical characteristics and chemical composition of Melodorum Fruticosum in Quang Nam province” and “Knowledge, attitude and practice of patients with chronic diseases during the Covid-19 pandemic at Phu Hoa District General Hospital, Phu Yen province” respectively.
 
- and three consolation prizes to students Nguyen Huu Dat from the Faculty of Medicine, Tran Nguyen Thuan Hoa from the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Ho Van Ha from the Faculty of Nursing with the projects “Physical activities and some related factors for DTU Faculty of Medicine students before and after the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam”, “The initial development of niosome berberine for oral use”, and “Body image awareness, post-partum depression, and other related factors for mothers of children under 6 months old in Danang” respectively.
 
The conference is not only a platform for students of the DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy to discuss and widen their knowledge, but it also brings students majoring in General Practitioner, Pharmacology, and General Nursing the opportunity to develop creativity and scienc research skills.
