“Danang Hospital is a core general hospital serving Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, and is nearly eighty years old,” Danang Hospital Director Dr Le Duc Nhan explained. “From a general-surgery clinic, it has grown into a comprehensive general hospital with 53 departments and more than 2,400 healthcare professionals covering all specialties. Although it is a city hospital, Danang Hospital fully meets the requirements to serve as a center for clinical training & research for the South Central region.

“Having witnessed DTU’s remarkable growth over the past thirty years and having firsthand experience of the abilities of its students during clinical internships at our hospital, we are more confident than ever in today’s signing. The partnership between Danang Hospital and DTU is not only a major milestone but also a reminder that we need more meaningful and connected activities to help health sciences students develop the mindset and skills necessary for their future healthcare work for the community. I believe this is more than just a signed document; it is a shared commitment to elevate the quality of education and clinical training. Danang Hospital will provide the best possible conditions for DTU students to practice, do internships, gain real-world experience, and to learn from our highly qualified medical team; and for coordinating scientific research and professional development activities, to the common progress of both our institutions.”

With a capacity of two thousand beds, Danang Hospital provides medical care for a large number of people, not only from Danang but also from other provinces and cities. The hospital has earned its patients’ trust through successful execution of a great many complex and life-saving procedures, such as kidney transplants, minimally invasive heart surgery, valve repair and replacement, correction of congenital heart defects, and stem cell transplants to treat bone marrow pain.

DTU recognized with high rankings in Health sciences

“Danang Hospital has long been one of the city’s key medical institutions,” DTU Provost Dr Le Nguyen Bao said. “Even with the construction of many new hospitals, including specialized and international ones, Danang Hospital remains the hub for treating the most difficult and complex cases. In many ways, the hospital has shouldered the lion’s share of the responsibility for healthcare in the city.

“In my opinion, a sustainably developing city must have a strong healthcare system, and at the core of such a system is a top-tier hospital like Danang Hospital. At DTU, we firmly believe that Danang, the hub of Central Vietnam, must have a university that offers training in medicine at sufficient scale and that can establish a strong reputation both locally and nationally.

“As DTU is still relatively new to medical training, we’re keenly aware that we can’t grow comprehensively without the support of major healthcare institutions for clinical practice and internships. Through this partnership with Danang Hospital, we hope DTU students will gain more opportunities to work in a high-quality medical environment and hone their skills, to confidently enter the professional world later on.”
