Program Code: 8480103
Degree Awarded: Master’s in Software Engineering
Program Duration: 1.5–2 years
Tuition: 25 million VND per semester
Advantages & strengths
In the midst of digital transformation, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital platforms has made software a core component of the operations of businesses and other organizations. This has created a growing demand for highly qualified Software Engineering professionals who can design and develop large-scale software systems and who are able to do research, management, and problem-solving for complex technological issues.
DTU’s master’s program in Software Engineering is built on the university’s strong foundation in education and research in IT and computer science. In 2026, computer science & information systems at DTU was ranked 144th of the world by the QS World University Rankings by Subject, placing it first in Vietnam. QS also ranked DTU 346th of the world for engineering & technology, and the university is in the 501–600 range globally for computer science according to Times Higher Education (THE) in 2026.
Additional proof of the quality of Software Engineering training at DTU is the fact that the bachelor’s program in Software Engineering was accredited by ABET, one of the most prestigious international accreditation systems in engineering & technology.
DTU also has a long-standing partnership in IT training with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the US. This collaboration provided a foundation for DTU to adopt advanced educational approaches in software engineering, systems development, and software project management.
Building on this foundation, the master’s program in Software Engineering aims to equip students with specialized knowledge and research capabilities in areas such as software architecture and design, software development processes, testing and quality assurance, project management and software lifecycles, distributed systems and cloud computing, DevOps, and the application of AI and emerging technologies in software development.
The program places particular emphasis on integrating academic knowledge, research, and practical problem-solving. This strengthens students’ ability to design, evaluate, and manage complex software systems and develops the adaptability to the rapid evolution of technology.
Program objectives
