Climbing almost 100 places, DTU enters the Top 351-400 Universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2021

Quacquarelli Symonds is a renowned UK-based education organization and just announced its 2021 list of the leading universities in Asia. Last year, eight Vietnamese university-level institutions were included but this year the Hanoi Pedagogy University, the Industrial University in Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Economy in Ho Chi Minh City were also added to the list.
 
Eleven Vietnamese universities appear in the 2021 QS Asia University Rankings: the National University in HCMC, the National University in Hanoi, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the Hanoi University of Science & Technology, Duy Tan University (DTU), Hue University, the University of Danang, Can Tho University, the Hanoi National University of Education, in the 551-600 range and the Industrial University in Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, both in the 601+ range. Of the 237 universities in Vietnam, 4.64% appear in the rankings.

Of the eleven universities in this year’s list, the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City is now at 158, down 15 from 2020; VNU in Hanoi is at 160, down 13; the Hanoi University of Science and Technology placed 301-350, down from 261-270; and Can Tho University is now in the 451-500 range, down from 401-450.
 
Some universities declined, but several improved their rankings, such as Duy Tan University, up to 350-400 from 451-500 and Hue University, up to 401-450 from 451-500.  
 
The QS Asia University Rankings are based on 11 metrics with different weights; academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty/student ratio (10%), ratio of faculty holding PhD degrees (5%), publications per faculty (5%), citations per publication (10%), international research networks (10%), international faculty (2.5%), international students (2.5%), domestic exchange students (2.5%) and exchange students overseas (2.5%). 
 
QS compiles evaluations of 70,000 higher education experts on the quality of teaching and research and has become the world’s largest survey of academic opinion, in size and in scope.
